EXO (band)

EXO (Korean: 엑소) is a twelve-member Chinese-South Korean boy group under SM Entertainment, formed in 2012. EXO is divided into two subgroups, EXO-K and EXO-M, which will promote in both South Korea and China, respectively. Their debuts will be released in China and Korea simultaneously.

History

2012: Debut and MAMA

EXO-K and EXO-M released their prologue single “What Is Love” on January 30. Both a Korean and Chinese version of the song was released digitally on iTunes, Melon, Doshirak, Soribada, and Naver Music. It was also released through Chinese music websites such as Baidu.

It was announced on March 7 that a second prologue song would be released on March 9, 2012 titled "History". Each music video featured scenes of the other group's members, as well as full twelve member scenes.

On March 31st, it was confirmed that EXO’s mini album, titled MAMA, will be released on April 9, 2012. EXO-K will make their debut on Inkigayo, and EXO-M will debut at the 12th Yin Yue Feng Yun Bang Awards, on April 8, 2012.
